“Into the Woods” was an idea that I had while taking out my recycling on garbage day. We all have that corner of the kitchen where paper products - grocery bags, Amazon boxes, scraps of cardboard - seemed to quietly collect. Rather than letting them go to waste, I began incorporating them into a body of work built from reclaimed surfaces, pieces of old paintings and layered histories.

It felt natural to use these recycled materials to create a series exploring the twisting trunks and branching forms of the oaks and other trees that abound in Central California.
